A very special feature of this Symposium was the first-ever Junior Symposium, an outreach activity co-sponsored by the American Peptide Society and by University of Minnesota President Mark G. Yudof. A dozen young scientists, ages 10-18, presented posters about their research. Four of these were children of Symposium participants, and eight were selected from among contestants at the Minnesota State Science Fair (sponsored by the Minnesota Academy of Sciences) by a Symposium judging team headed by Professor Karin Musier-Forsyth.
