James Clark tuition of Engineering from April 30 – may well 2 2010.. The convention software consisted of 168 oral displays and 21 poster displays with nearly 250 registered members of which approximately part have been scholars. The periods have been designed alongside topical strains with pupil papers jumbled in randomly with extra senior investigators. there has been a pupil pageant leading to numerous most sensible Paper and Honorable point out awards. there have been 32 technical periods taking place in 6-7 parallel classes. This complaints is a subset of the papers submitted to the convention. It comprises 147 papers prepared in topical parts. Many thank you exit to the paper reviewers who considerably greater the readability of the submitted papers.

F. Valdez and B. Balachandran Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Maryland, College Park, MD 20742 Abstract–– In this article, the authors investigate wave propagation in soft-tissue matter with the aim of understanding the following: i) influence of nonlinear material properties of soft tissue on its mechanical response when subjected to transient loading and ii) mechanical response variation with respect to frequency and amplitude of the loading. To aid these investigations, reduced-order models are constructed taking into account available experimentally determined brain tissue properties and these models are used to study onedimensional wave propagation in brain tissue fiber bundles.

Fig. 1 (a) HHFEM with Hybrid III neck, (b) HHFEM sagittal cross-section view showing skull, brain, CSF and brain stem, and (c) grid of the head model used for CFD calculations The Green-Lagrange maximum shear strains and maximum principal strains in the model were calculated at locations in the brain corresponding to regions where FA decreases have been documented in the white matter of patients with known functional deficits [2-4]. These regions were the most anterior and posterior extent of the corpus callosum (the rostrum and the splenium)(Figure 2), the right and left anterior and posterior limb of the internal capsule (ALIC and PLIC)(Figure 3), and the left cingulum bundle (Figure 2).
Peak (P8) Time (ms) IV. DISCUSSION Fig. 3 Comparison of intracranial pressure response (unprotected configuration) at the anterior location for three driver pressure levels A comparison of the helmet vs. no helmet case for the anterior and posterior pressure responses are provided in Figure 5. For both test configurations, a similar response pattern was observed but with differences in certain selected features. Most notably, the initial peak pressure responses (P1, P2, P5 and P6) appear unaffected by the presence of the helmet.
